Job Summary: The Assistant Drylining Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in managing costs, contracts, and valuations for drylining projects. This role involves assisting with cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to develop expertise in drylining and interior fit-out works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for drylining projects.
- Support the procurement process by obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Help manage contracts, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.
- Assist with valuations, variations, and progress payments, ensuring accurate financial tracking.
- Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and assess work completed for valuations.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and cost forecasts for senior management.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth commercial operations.
- Support in identifying and managing risks that may impact project costs or timelines.
- Assist in resolving disputes and negotiating contract terms when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to contracts, costs, and project changes.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education: Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within drylining, interior fit-out, or construction sectors.
- Knowledge of drylining materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and procurement processes.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, COINS, Excel).
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Full UK driving license (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working with subcontractors and suppliers in the drylining industry.
- Understanding of commercial risk management and value engineering.
- Progress toward RICS or CIOB accreditation is an advantage.
