Part Time Garment Technologist/Product Developer (Womenswear)

The Role

We are looking for passionate and skilled Garment Technologist / Product Developer to join our team on a part-time basis. This is a technical role working closely with design, wholesale and suppliers to ensure that our products consistently exceed expectations when it comes to fit, quality and performance. You will be responsible for maintaining the critical path and technical development of each product from design to bulk production.

The successful candidate will be an experienced multi-product Garment Technologist / Product Developer and will ideally have experience in jersey and knitwear.

Responsibilities

1. Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure critical path is maintained.
2. Work with the design team from the beginning of development through to launching technical packs to ensure products are realistic and achievable, identifying and resolving any potential issues.
3. Lead fit sessions by working with the design team to ensure excellent and consistent fit of product with the best construction methods.
4. Create clear and precise workbooks for fit/make comments through text, pictures and diagrams.
5. Ensure that all fit/make comments are communicated clearly to suppliers after each fit session and range reviews.
6. Responsible for the BOM, maintaining accurate records of approved fabric composition, wash care and trim details for all products.
7. Source and manage fabrics, trims, and other materials, ensuring high quality and standardisation across the collections.
8. Standardise key blocks with the support of design and wholesale team to increase speed & accuracy of samples and improve product performance.
9. Approve test reports for bulk materials in line with the brand’s expectations.
10. Consistently looking for ways to improve the quality of product to exceed our customers’ expectations.
11. Maintain and develop strong links with the supply base.
12. Potential visit to overseas suppliers.

Skills and Qualifications

1. 5+ years’ experience in a Womenswear Garment Technologist / Product Developer role.
2. Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric properties and production processes.
3. Enthusiastic, can-do attitude and always striving for excellence in every aspect of your work.
4. Experience working in a small team but work well autonomously, and be a team player.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented approach and a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
7. Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
9. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe suite.
