cer Financial is working alongside an international bank based in the City of London. They are seeking an Operational Risk Manager for a contract position.

Responsibilities of an Operational Risk Manager include:

1. Assist the Head of Operational Risk in developing and managing the ORM Framework and policies.
2. Deliver firm-wide training and provide consultation to embed operational risk principles.
3. Coordinate with Operational Risk Champions to assess operational effectiveness across the firm.
4. Develop and execute the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) methodology and processes annually.
5. Oversee and challenge the firm’s systems and controls related to risk management.
6. Support the Risk Governance framework and contribute to related processes.
7. Prepare information packs for Governance Committees.
8. Manage and report the firm’s monthly Operational Risk Appetite.
9. Represent the Head of Operational Risk when needed and address questions from Governance Committees.
10. Assist in operational risk loss event analysis and reporting.
11. Enforce operational risk standards and escalate issues through MI and engagement with senior staff.
12. Manage KRI portfolio integrity through reviews and testing.
13. Assess KPIs and KRIs monthly and escalate as needed.
14. Collaborate with external consultants on projects like data licensing.
15. Contribute to regulatory reporting and processes such as ICAAP, ICARA, ILAA, and SWDP.
16. Assist in stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk modelling activities.
17. Support the coaching and development of team members.
18. Lead initiatives to improve Operational Risk Management effectiveness.
19. Coordinate review of new business propositions.
20. Assist in drafting MI and change requests for the New Product Committee.
21. Track pre/post trade conditions and actions, logging evidence for closure.
22. Manage Post Implementation Reviews and escalation processes.
23. Align current Operational Risk practices and protocols as relevant.
24. Support the implementation and oversight of Operational Risk across the organization and subsidiaries.
25. Deputize for the Head of Operational Risk and chair the Operational Risk Committee when required.
26. Manage subordinate team members.

Qualifications for the successful Operational Risk Manager include:

• Management experience is preferred.
• Technical knowledge and experience in Operational Risk Management.
• Experience with capital markets, especially securities and derivatives products.
• Knowledge of ICAAP and risk measurement methodologies.
• Qualifications such as ACA/ACCA, FRM/PRM, or CISI certifications are preferred.
