By harnessing the power of cell growth, we are creating state-of-the-art technology to cultivate real meat outside animal bodies – without the need for slaughter. Our goal is to develop a scalable cultured meat manufacturing system that empowers food producers to create their own meats locally.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic COO / Head of R&D to lead operations and oversee research and development. This role requires a strategic leader who can work closely with company leadership and technical teams to drive innovation and efficiency. You will ensure that our scientific team operates productively while fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and product development.
Responsibilities:
- Execute and contribute to the product roadmap in alignment with market needs, technological advancements, and business goals.
Leadership:
- Lead laboratory operations and guide research and development initiatives.
- Define scientific strategies and research direction.
- Act as a liaison between cross-functional teams, ensuring projects are delivered within timelines.
Product Development:
- Coordinate efforts between R&D, engineering, and design teams to bring innovations from concept to market.
- Drive scientific advancements to keep the company at the forefront of the industry.
Team Management:
- Recruit, manage, and lead a multidisciplinary team, including researchers, engineers, and technicians.
- Support and mentor team members while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Intellectual Property & Regulatory Affairs:
- Oversee intellectual property, including patents, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Implement quality control and assurance measures to uphold scientific rigor.
Scientific Collaboration:
- Establish and maintain partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry stakeholders.
Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent experience in BioProcess Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Natural Sciences, Biotechnology, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong expertise in cell line development, iPSC culture, media development, bioprocess development, bioreactor technology, mammalian cell culture, tissue engineering, and biomaterials.
- Experience in bioreactor operation, process development, and scale-up.
- Minimum of 4 years in product management or a related role within biotechnology, bioprocessing, or pharmaceuticals.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive products from concept to market.
- Experience in bringing biotechnology products from lab to market.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
