Job Summary
The Environmental (ENV) EMEA Sales and Business Development (BD) Director provides leadership, strategy and direction for a multi-disciplinary team of Sales and Business Development professionals assigned to focus markets within the Environmental Division and within the EMEA region.
This role merges the previously separate roles of Sales Director and Business Development Director. It requires a blend of people leadership skills, strategic thinking, technical acumen and vision to ensure that the EMEA business goals of the Environmental Division are met while delighting our customers.
This role provides strategic leadership, responsible for driving revenue growth, identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities, and fostering long-term partnerships to support organizational objectives within the environmental division.
The ENV EMEA Sales & BD Director is a key member of both the Environmental Division leadership team and the EMEA region leadership team.
Essential Functions
- Leadership and Culture:
- Develop a team culture aligned with Campbell Scientific’s ARCTIC values: Accountability, Respect, Client-Centric, Teamwork, Innovation, Continuous Improvement.
- Supervise and manage a team of highly skilled sales and business development professionals.
- Inspire and develop a high-performing team with clear strategy, KPIs and accountability.
- Strategy and Execution:
- Develop a sales and business development strategy for growth in alignment with the business goals of the Environmental Division leadership and Regional leadership and which meets or exceeds the 5-year growth plan targets for EMEA.
- Disseminate the strategy to all team members and ensure that each member has a co-developed sales development plan which collectively meets the Environmental Division business goals for the region. Routinely manage, coach and evaluate the performance of sales team members against their agreed sales development plan.
- Coach sales and BD team members to prioritize the use of CRM tools (Gold Vision -> CE) to create, regularly maintain and monitor their opportunity pipeline.
- Operational Excellence:
- Take ownership and be accountable for the Environmental bookings, revenue and gross profit margins in EMEA. Instigate sales initiatives leading to continuous improvement.
- Monitor competitor performance, pricing and offering to provide feedback to the Environmental leadership enabling business optimisation.
Required Technical And Functional Skills
- Extensive experience with measurement, control, and communication devices.
- In-depth knowledge of sensors and technical products for measuring environmental phenomena.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and team management skills.
- Proven ability to organize, manage and coach sales professionals on target achievement.
- Proficiency in office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, Visio, email, Internet) and Campbell Scientific operations software.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Substantial senior sales management experience leading a diverse and multi-cultural team, geographically dispersed across multiple locations.
- Experience reviewing and contributing to proposals meeting complex project specifications.
- Substantial experience with Campbell Scientific measurement systems.
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in an environmental or engineering-related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience within the instrumentation and data solutions industries.
- Business qualification advantageous.
Work Environment
- Office work and travel environment (travelling to meet with teams and clients, and to conferences).
- Must be able to travel up to 30% of time including international travel on a regular basis.
