Global Head of FinOps (Cloud) β Edinburgh β New Role (REFBJ6)
A leading organisation in central Edinburgh requires a Head of FinOps to join its technology services team.
The successful candidate will be accountable for overseeing and optimizing the capacity planning/management for both technology infrastructure and applications, as well as leading a team who analyse capacity usage data, generate reports and provide insight on future forecasting across the infrastructure and application estate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analysing and predicting future IT Infrastructure capacity needs based on business growth, usage trends, and technological advancements.
- Overseeing IT Infrastructure capacity planning (for servers, storage, networking, database, licences and other infrastructure components).
- Meeting/exceeding FinOps targets for cost reallocation and cloud optimisation.
- Proactive and effective management of the Global FinOps services.
- Analysing capacity usage data, generating reports, and presenting findings to senior management.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance reporting quality, grow the scope and coverage of capacity observability and improve capacity reporting.
- Identifying potential capacity-related risks and developing mitigation strategies to prevent performance issues or service disruptions.
Suitable candidates will have experience of leading technical IT infrastructure capacity management functions, ideally in a financial services organisation. Experience leading global teams and collaboration with multi disciplined technical teams would also be advantageous. Other skills & experience include:
- Strong knowledge of IT Infrastructure.
- Management of Opex cost centres β both FTEs and supplier Opex cost.
- Business planning experience and the ability to forecast cost for budget cycles.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to keep reports updated on strategic initiatives by means of written updates, stand up Town Halls and presentations.
- Knowledge of service governance processes and the ability to understand risk to services.
- ITIL knowledge and experience of working within ITIL aligned organisations.
