I am recruiting for a Head of Technology to join a UK leading manufacturing business based in West Birmingham. This is a newly created role to look after both the short term and long term technology strategy to help modernise a disburse function in need of some maturity. This is not an ivory tower leader role; we need someone who can work closely with a relatively small team covering all aspects from Infosec, Development, Infrastructure, PMO etc. The ideal candidate will be able to come in and quickly realise some quick wins whilst also get working on the 3-5 year technology roadmap. Whilst not essential, it would be great to have PE experience for this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop the organisation’s IT vision and strategy and translate it into actionable goals which will require a complete system architecture review.
  • Consolidation and creation of a single IT team from various “pockets” around the business.
  • Develop and manage an IT steering committee which will require the creation of a PMO function.
  • To represent the IT department at key business stakeholder level meetings.
  • Ensure that risks (including cyber security) are appropriately managed with regular risk management updates to the company Board.
  • Ensure that systems, processes and methodologies as specified are followed to ensure effective monitoring, control and support of IT services, with particular regard to compliance (particularly cyber security).
  • Ensure security of data and compliance to GDPR.
  • Management of IT vendors ensuring licences remain in date and negotiated to ensure pricing and service are continuously improving.
  • Maintain IT infrastructure.
  • Create, submit and monitor annual budget for IT function.
