Are you interested in becoming a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer working within our team based in our Leeds office? Our successful team in Leeds requires an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to accompany them on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects.
Role and Responsibilities

- Act as a Line Manager.
- Preparing and presenting CPDs and customer presentations.
- Undertake and input to roles related to Project Management.
- Undertake project design from commencement to completion.
- Be responsible for the financial, technical and project management of various projects.
- Mentor and develop the understanding and technical knowledge of junior colleagues.
- Manage junior Engineers and Technicians in the process of project design and delivery.
- Offer leadership, mentoring, encouragement and motivation to junior Engineers and Technicians.
- Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and maintain CPD records in accordance with the requirements of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
- Recognise the importance of clear communication with all members of the design and/or construction team regarding matters of structural safety.
- Have a thorough knowledge of The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM2015) and understanding of relevant Health & Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice & standards and current design methods.
- Involvement in identification and management of project risks and preparation of risk assessments.
- Lead teams to assist with consultancy guidance, feasibility, outline, and detailed design.
- Deliver high-quality designs, drawings, and reports using engineering materials, in a form that can readily be checked by another member of staff or external approving authority.
- Influence development and infrastructure master-planning using knowledge of relevant statutory instruments.
- Produce high-quality designs for feasibility, costing and construction purposes.
- Undertake and lead inspections, examinations and scoping visits with the internal and external customers.
- Prepare or check technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements.
- Undertake site visits and inspections and associated reporting.
- Undertake the coordination of thorough site investigations, complete inspections, and identify and resolve any issues as appropriate.
- Undertake design reviews to ensure coordination between design disciplines.
- Technical Report production and reviewing.
- Commercial reporting.
- Assist with preparation of fee proposals and ongoing project variations.
- Support in all aspects of tenders, including producing and delivering presentations.
- Determine a project’s scope of works, budget and programme.
- Assist in recruitment, retention and management of staff and ensure successful outcomes for our clients/customers.
- Ensure financial control of projects when acting as a Project Manager.
- Undertake Business Development for the benefit of CCL.
- Undertake production and approval of single- and multi-discipline fee proposals for client/customer projects.
- Undertake accurate and timely assessments of variations and appraisal of fee cost and/or timescale impacts, and agreement with client/customer organisations.
- Manage engineering teams to ensure utilisation and recovery targets are monitored and achieved.
- Represent the company at design team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.
Software Capabilities
- Working knowledge of design drafting and simulation analysis software such as Infoworks (Micro-drainage), Causeway PDS Site Developer, Flow+, Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, AutoCAD 2D, Revu, Navisworks, Tekla Tedds, and other industry-recognised software.
- Proficient use of MS office-based software is essential.
Qualifications
- Membership of either Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
- Chartered or Incorporated membership desirable but not essential.
