ROLE & PURPOSE OF JOB:
The post holder will take a lead role within a flexible team, investigating, developing, designing, commissioning, and managing high-quality civil engineering projects which contribute to the objectives of the City Council’s Policies and Strategies.
To assist the Highway Asset Management, Development and Design Manager in the provision of an effective service that will significantly support community sustainability through maintaining the highway asset, promoting sustainable transport, and reducing road traffic accidents in an efficient and coordinated manner which impacts upon the local physical environment.
To provide a consultancy service for the Asset Management Team and others, such as the Area Teams, which is customer-focused, works within budgets, tight timescales, and ensures compliance with the latest statutory and technical requirements.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree or equivalent level of experience.
Specific qualification requirement (if applicable):
- Desirable: Chartered Engineer with a Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Essential: One or more of the following:
- An Incorporated Engineer (or working towards) with a HNC in Civil Engineering.
- Full membership of a relevant professional body and evidence of continual professional development.
- Recognised Project Management qualification and relevant experience.
- Recognised Traffic Engineering qualification and relevant experience.
- Recognised Structural Engineering qualification and relevant experience.
- Recognised Mechanical/Electrical Engineering qualification and relevant experience.
- Recognised Management or Supervisory qualification and relevant experience.
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS:
1-2 days per week in the office.
37-40 hours a week.
