We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. Everything our Nectar team does is powered and fuelled by data — and by great relationships with some of the UK’s favourite brands. The Nectar 360 team focuses on developing loyalty programmes, turning amazing data into something that makes a difference, traditional media and digital. It’s like an agency-within-a-retailer, and retail media is crucial. The culture might not be what you expect either, because there’s no set-up quite like this one. The team is a real priority because it’s connected to everything the business does and drives profitability. It’s where you can take risks, learn from them and be recognised.
Do you take satisfaction in seeing your recommendations implemented in the ‘real world’? Are you analytically creative and motivated by new challenges? Do you have a passion for working with data to drive insight and improve customer understanding?
When you join us you will be providing world-class customer insights for our clients. Utilising the Nectar data to understand how we can personalise the customer experience and drive business impact, this role is a fantastic opportunity to apply and develop your analytical capabilities.
The role is based at Holborn on average 1-2 days a week, with home working expected the remainder of the time. Occasional travel to our FMCG clients is required.
What will you be doing?
- You’ll analyse Nectar, Sainsbury’s and supplier data to maximise understanding of customer behaviour and provide impactful insights and recommendations. You’ll take responsibility for delivering end-to-end analytical projects, utilising multiple datasets such as Sainsbury’s transactional data, ranging data & contextual customer profiling.
- You’ll build your analytical knowledge as you help deliver analytical projects on a large variety of topics, such as customer journeys, segmentation, ranging and promotions.
- You’ll take a proactive role in delivering increasing revenue for Nectar360, such as experimenting with new methods and data to enhance analytics, and improving our analytics efficiencies.
- You should be able to look beyond the data to find relevant and actionable insights that are useful and interesting to stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for making your insight actionable; explaining complex analytics to non-technical audiences and making clear recommendations on how stakeholders should be using the insight you’re providing.
- You’ll be expected to confidently & independently create well formatted PowerPoint documents and Tableau dashboards that explain the analysis that you have generated, presenting findings to internal & external stakeholders in an engaging and enthusiastic manner.
What we would like you to have:
- An innovative mind and a passion for solving problems.
- A university degree (2:1 or higher) in a numerate discipline or equivalent educational background.
- Technical confidence and statistical understanding to manipulate and interpret datasets using Excel and ideally SQL, R or Python.
- Experience of BI tools (e.g. Tableau or Business Objects) and AWS/Snowflake would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in collaborating with peers or colleagues.
This role will suit you if:
- You’re looking to grow your career in a fast paced, commercial environment.
- You’re looking to work autonomously in a client-facing environment. You’ll take accountability for your analytical projects and build strong collaborative partnerships with both Sainsbury’s suppliers and internal teams.
- You thrive on excellence all the way. You will need to deliver high-quality insight with attention to detail.
- You’re looking for variety and new challenges. We work with a wide range of contacts across Nectar360 and Sainsbury’s, providing analytical advice to multiple business units. No two questions are the same, so you’ll need to be analytically creative whilst thinking on your feet to understand the real question we need to answer and implementing the best analytical techniques to do so.
What we offer
- Colleague discount across the multi-brands – Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat
- Pension plan
- Special offers on gym memberships, restaurants, holidays, retail vouchers and more
You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Data & Analytics community at Sainsbury’s. We have Big Data with a great culture and huge learning and development opportunities.
Flexible working and job share conversations are encouraged. We’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer that champions a diverse and inclusive culture. If you’re reading this, even if you’re not 100% sure you’re there with your experience, we’d still love to hear from you.
We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer, so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new – whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business – and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working.
