Senior Software Development Engineer, Nextgen Security Automation

The NextGen Security Automation team is looking for a skilled and driven Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE III) to create autonomous security solutions that protect Amazon’s customers. As an SDE III, you will leverage AI/ML technologies to automate detection, analysis, and remediation across proactive, offensive, and defensive security at scale. You will help build, mentor, and grow a new development team. Your work will directly enhance Amazon’s security posture by improving detection capabilities, strengthening guardrails, and advancing automated security tools.

Key job responsibilities

1. Architect, design, and develop AI/ML-driven security automation systems to detect and mitigate threats at scale.
2. Build and maintain scalable applications that enable adaptive, real-time security detection, analysis, and remediation.
3. Develop automated systems integrated into Amazon’s security infrastructure.
4. Research and prototype new security solutions, evaluating design approaches for technical feasibility.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
2. Experience in professional, non-internship software development.
3. Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
4. Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
5. Experience in development in the last 3 years.
6. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
2. Knowledge of computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
3. Experience with Cloud services such as Lambda, Bedrock, and SageMaker.
4. Experience building and integrating AI/ML-driven applications.
