Summary

The Electronics Engineer will design hardware and firmware for lighting systems used mainly in military environments (land, sea, or air).

Duties

  1. Primarily working on hardware design but could also work on firmware/software with dedicated software engineers.
  2. Involvement with new design projects as well as giving support to existing production.
  3. Carries out detailed electronic circuit design, including simulation and design verification testing of the new design.
  4. PCB layout of designs using Altium Designer software.
  5. Selects new parts, taking into consideration obsolescence, availability, and cost.
  6. Create designs which involve electronic control of the electrical, optical, and thermal performance of LED lighting systems.
  7. Prepares and presents electronic designs to other members.
  8. Documents design work and prepares reports.
  9. Support the Electronic Design Team Leader in recording and reporting design progress into the project and management teams.

Qualifications

Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar.

Experience and skills

  1. At least 5 years Hardware design experience within a relevant industry complemented with strong all-round electronic design and software/firmware skills.
  2. Strong knowledge of Analogue and Digital Design including microprocessors/microcontrollers, programmable logic, embedded firmware/software, SMPS design, PCB design, and design for EMC.
  3. Schematic, PCB, and simulation using Altium designer or similar.
  4. Firmware development in C.
  5. Knowledge of design for Military/Avionics applications including EMI/EMC specifications.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
