Our school is a member of Ventrus, a group of Devon schools that actively collaborate to improve children’s outcomes. As a Trust, Ventrus offers excellent career and development opportunities.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic specialist SEND teacher to develop our SEMH provision as part of our wider SEND offer.

Willowbrook School is a welcoming school set in extensive grounds in Exeter. Our children come from diverse backgrounds which give a unique richness to our school. We are proud of our inclusive philosophy and are a school where the number of children on roll is growing.

After joining Ventrus and the recent start of a new Headteacher, we are in the process of reviewing our SEND provision; this is an exciting time to join us as you can contribute to our vision for a range of enhanced onsite provisions that aim to support specific areas of need.

The SEMH role is part of a new team which will cater for some of our most vulnerable children with social and emotional needs whilst providing them with access to a rich curriculum within a mainstream setting. This is a genuine opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of our more complex children.

You will be working with a small class of children but will also support the wider development of SEMH across the school by working to upskill our teaching staff and leading targeted interventions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with tenacity to be innovative, dynamic and to put fresh ideas into practice in our school. Ideally, you will have experience of both inclusive primary practice and a background and knowledge of effective SEMH provision.

The role is fixed term for two years; this is so that we can develop the provision and establish our needs for the future. We envisage this opportunity would suit someone who is interested in developing their practical experience of SEND before returning to a mainstream classroom with an enhanced skillset. Visits are encouraged.

All shortlisted applicants will be subject to an online search.

Ventrus Multi Academy Trust require all applicants to be eligible to work in the UK with no restrictions, as we are unable to offer sponsorship/work visas. You will be required to provide proof of Right to Work at interview stage.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 24th February 2025.

Interview Date: Will be held on Wednesday 26th February 2025.
