Our client specializes in building precision risk management and trading tools for freight rates, commodity arbitrages, new fuels, and emissions. We are helping them recruit for a great graduate quant analyst for the expanding company - if you have quant experience or quant learning from University and would be interested in joining a growing team.

Main Duties

  • Develop, implement, and solve advanced optimization models (linear, integer, mixed-integer programming, etc.) to support cost, routing, refueling, and emissions-related objectives for the shipping industry.
  • Balance the trade-off between precision and computational efficiency by tuning models, leveraging solver parameters, and occasionally supplementing algorithms with heuristics or metaheuristics.
  • Analyze and interpret results, translating them into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the team to understand requirements, gather data, validate model assumptions, and create a robust suite of testing tools.
  • Implement optimization solutions in tools such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or other solvers.
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results for stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in optimization and operations research.
