About the role

We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Manager within the People Operations team who will have the accountability for the delivery of the UK Technology Solutions payroll, and overall responsibility to ensure all international payrolls are compliant to the local legislation and Ocado’s policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  1. Manage the team to deliver payroll processes effectively and efficiently for the UK Technology Solutions business adhering to set and agreed SLAs, KPI and policies providing a high quality user experience for colleagues and business stakeholders.
  2. Lead the team to process payroll and relevant payments delivering accurate payments on time and effectively manage enquiries from colleagues and business teams.
  3. Support period end activities (closing the sub ledger) and ensure correctness of payments.
  4. Report and present KPIs to senior management.
  5. Support the development of the service provision strategy across all locations and develop strong relationships with UK and international service providers.
  6. Effectively manage supplier performance to achieve agreed service levels and customer satisfaction.
  7. Continuously improve processes leveraging automation to achieve better efficiency and customer experience and working closely with Group IT to drive and adapt system changes.
  8. Drive and support the payroll transformation programme across strategy, provider selection, customer service focus and international expansion.
  9. Support wider business transformation programmes with relevant expertise (e.g. Finance and People Transformations), making recommendations for improvements where relevant, championing innovation and continuous improvement.
  10. Act as a subject matter expert for payroll defining requirements and driving improvement of processes and systems to meet business requirements, performance metrics and compliance.
  11. Driving initiatives to enhance compliance controls and address areas of non-compliance and internal finance procedures.
  12. Build and develop a high performing highly engaged team creating a culture of service excellence.
  13. Create a culture of customer service and delivery excellence.

About you

  1. CIPP Foundation Degree (or equivalent).
  2. Experience of large payroll operations (c 1500 + employees), ideally across multiple international markets.
  3. Strong demonstrable experience of people management (team of 4 FTE, incl 6 dotted line reports).
  4. Significant experience of payroll and HRIS applications, ideally including implementation and transformation.
  5. Experience of customer service focused delivery in an international / global environment.
  6. Significant experience of UK payroll, benefits and related HMRC legislation.
