We’re currently recruiting Customer Team Leaders for our brand-new Co-op store opening soon in Altrincham. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative retail concept that focuses exclusively on food-to-go and delivery services through our trusted partners. It’s a fresh take on convenience retail, offering something distinctly different from our traditional stores. We have a range of permanent contracts and we’re happy to discuss your availability at interview.

When you join Co-op, you’ll get dedicated support to help you grow your career, as well as amazing benefits including:

  • 36 days holiday
  • a pension with up to 10% Co-op contribution
  • access to virtual healthcare services for you and your family
  • a 30% discount on all Co-op products in our stores

As a Customer Team Leader, you’ll be part of a friendly team that’s dedicated to helping our customers. We’ll look to you to help lead the store team – coaching and supervising our Customer Team Members and deputising for the Store Manager, while also delivering great customer service and performing a wide range of other tasks around the store like re-stocking shelves and cleaning up spillages.

At Co-op, we do things a different way. For over 175 years we’ve been focused on making things fairer for our members and their communities, and as a colleague we promise to take care of you. You’ll get support for your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, as well as market leading policies to help you through life events from bereavement and pregnancy loss to fertility treatment and menopause.

What you’ll do:

  • Friendly and thoughtful service – you’ll give friendly, welcoming, easy, helpful and thoughtful service every day, working in our in-store bakery often taking ownership for managing the store and handling challenging situations.
  • Develop your teams capabilities through coaching and training, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone’s voice is valued and respected.
  • Make sure that the store remains safe, legal, and fully operational.
  • Manage diligence checks and stock accuracy to make shopping a great experience for our customers.
  • Support your store manager by deputising when they’re not working and delivering a variety of HR processes.
  • Lead the way when introducing new products and services in your store – work closely with your team to implement change and encourage open and honest feedback.
  • Build relationships and get involved in your local community, supporting your Store Manager with the delivery of the local Co-op community plan.

This job would suit people who have:

  • A genuine care for the needs of customers and members.
  • The ability to strike a balance between leading and supporting your team and rolling up your sleeves on the shop floor.
  • Great people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A desire to learn, grow and develop your leadership skills.
  • The flexibility to work a range of different shifts.

Why Co-op?

  • Full, paid training and dedicated support for your personal development and career progression.
  • 30% discount on all Co-op products in-store plus 10% discounts on all other brands.
  • A pension scheme with up to 10% employer contributions.
  • Wagestream– a money management app giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it.
  • 36 days of holiday (including bank holidays, pro rata for part time colleagues).
  • Virtual healthcare services for you and your family, including access to GP appointments, eye care, mental health support, and nutrition and fitness consultations.
  • 24/7 employee assistance service.
  • Rotas shared three weeks in advance and accessible on your phone.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme.

Building an inclusive workplace: We want to build diverse teams and we welcome applications from everyone. We want our stores to be inclusive environments, where our colleagues can reach their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.
