The role:
As a Strategic Planning Engineer (Analyst), you will be responsible for crafting and maintaining the long-term maintenance plan for the British Airways and Euroflyer Fleets. You will also play an exciting part in delivering our key customer investment programmes including large aircraft modifications and the next generation of cabin interiors. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will act as a key link between the airline and maintenance providers and be responsible for negotiating suitable downtimes and aircraft descheduling to bring your plans to life. You will also support the selection process of external maintenance providers and justify these decisions through data analytics. You will need to be comfortable presenting and making recommendations to the Engineering Leadership Team and possibly up to BA/IAG Director level. This is a great opportunity where no day is the same, you will drive aircraft utilisation and define the direction and strategy for BA’s aircraft maintenance.
What you’ll do:
- Accountable for the planning and prioritisation of aircraft maintenance ensuring at all times aircraft compliance is maintained.
- Manage and develop complex aircraft maintenance plans covering large areas of the business.
- Drive optimal decisions in the wider team and lead discussions across departments using expertise, taking into consideration the effects on the wider business.
- Optimise maintenance, inspection and modification programmes to maximise useable aircraft uptime and engineering resources throughout an aircraft’s life cycle.
- Scenario modelling and analysis such as but not limited to: finding and taking advantage of opportunities, addressing plan delivery/financial challenges, and developing innovative ways of working.
- Collate and analyse supporting data required for compilation of Business cases, Business Plan and Financial Plan processes within Engineering including costs of contracted maintenance.
- Respond and deal with external factors that may impact on the delivery of the plan, making recommendations to ensure a positive impact on the bottom line.
- Influence the management of resources across departments and large programmes to meet operational and financial objectives appreciating how actions taken impact own and other departments.

- Calm and professional when working in a high-pressure environment with the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Experience in dealing with ambiguity and complexity.
Your experience:
- HNC/HND/degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject.
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance programmes/planning and industry experience is desirable but not essential.
