About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Technical Architect with expertise in cloud-based architectures to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing advanced cloud infrastructure solutions for mission-critical systems. With at least 3 years of experience, including good knowledge of security architecture on cloud platforms, you will help to provide strategic direction in building scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native systems based on AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, microservices, Java, and event-driven design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Architecture Design : Contribute to the design of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud-based systems, leveraging AWS and modern architectural paradigms such as microservices, event-driven designs, and serverless frameworks to support business objectives.
- Cloud Security : Assist in implementing comprehensive security frameworks for cloud environments, ensuring robust data protection, regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and adherence to industry standards through technologies like AWS IAM, encryption, secure VPC configurations, and real-time security monitoring.
- Containerisation & Orchestration : Support the design and management of containerised platforms using Kubernetes, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability for mission-critical applications.
- Event-Driven Systems : Contribute to the design and implementation of event-driven architectures using tools like Kafka to enable real-time data processing and distributed microservice communication.
- Microservices Architecture : Collaborate on the design and development of modular, scalable, and maintainable microservices architectures, applying best practices for Java-based backend services in cloud-native environments.
- Technical Collaboration : Work closely with senior architects and team leads to address technical challenges, propose solutions, and ensure alignment with architectural goals.
- Security & Compliance : Ensure cloud solutions comply with regulatory requirements and internal security policies by implementing security measures and supporting regular audits.
- CI/CD & Automation : Assist in the development and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, contributing to the rapid and reliable delivery of cloud services.
- Collaboration & Alignment : Work alongside DevOps, engineering teams, product management, and business stakeholders to ensure cloud strategies align with technical and business requirements.
- Performance & Cost Optimisation : Support efforts to improve system performance, optimise resource utilisation, and implement cost-control measures to enhance efficiency.
- Risk Management : Help identify and mitigate technical risks in cloud solutions, contributing to the reliability and resilience of system operations.
- Documentation & Standards : Assist in developing and maintaining architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices to ensure consistent and scalable technical solutions.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field or professional equivalent maybe considered.
- At least 3 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale, distributed cloud systems, with a strong focus on AWS.
- Strong experience with cloud security architecture, including knowledge of AWS security best practices (e.g., IAM, network security, encryption).
- Expertise in containerisation technologies (Docker) and Kubernetes for orchestration in production environments.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing event-driven architectures, with strong expertise in queue-based systems including Kafka.
- Strong background in microservices architecture and hands-on experience with Java-based backend systems.
- In-depth understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and automated deployment processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical mentorship.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) and cloud cost optimisation strategies.
Preferred Skills:
- AWS certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security – Specialty).
- Familiarity with serverless architectures and AWS Lambda.
- Experience with advanced security practices such as zero-trust architecture, encryption key management, and security incident response.
