Prospero Teaching are looking for SEND Tutors in Bury to deliver tuition on a 1:1 basis to young people with complex special educational needs. The tutor will be providing 1:1 support to pupils in the Oldham area that are currently seeking education other than at school. The tuition will involve delivery of Maths and English, and the tutor will be expected to conduct a baseline assessment to assess the students' ability and then deliver the curriculum they deem suitable. The support will be taking place at the young person's house or in a local library on a part-time basis (up to 25 hours per week).

As an SEN Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupils' education and boost attainment levels. You may be an experienced teacher or have significant experience working with children in a therapeutic way to support their needs through previous SEN specialist positions.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Possess UK classroom teaching experience and experience delivering tailored lesson plans
  • Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
  • Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils

To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references.
