The predicted salary is between 30600 - 32700 £ per year.
£36,650 – £39,032 – the band minimum is the normal starting pay for those new to a role. In exceptional circumstances, when relevant skills and experience can be identified, a higher starting salary may be considered.
We will give full consideration to requests for flexible and part-time working, such as reduced hours, compressed hours, or job sharing. British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an outstanding person to join our Engineering & Technology team. BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. You’ll be joining our Engineering and Technology team supporting science and Comms infrastructure across Antarctica on land and at Sea. With Science and comms systems at 5 Stations, 2 logistics depots, and on one Icebreaker!
You’ll help us to modernize the department by supporting others in transitioning from a variety of Asset, Stock, Maintenance, and H&S systems into BAS’ new central MAXIMO database. This system is already in place and being adopted across the organization; your role would be to support managers and engineers in making that leap onto a new system.
Within the role, there will be the chance to develop Systems, Department strategy, knowledge of engineering processes, and engage with a fun, exciting workplace.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Learning about and understanding current systems and ownership structures in E&T.
- Working with E&T managers to transition these systems into Maximo.
- Leading the collation and restructuring of large inventory and Asset datasets into Maximo.
- Providing day-to-day support to E&T staff during the transition into Maximo.
- Working with engineers and managers to identify potential inventory efficiency, planned maintenance improvements, and financial savings.
- Collaborating with the embedded Maximo team to ensure cross-organization standards.
