As a Social Media Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in amplifying our mission and stories through engaging content.
Essential Information
- Work location: Hybrid. Remote working, with attendance of tours in London; occasional meetings and socials in London (or online)
- Minimum commitment: 1 year
- Salary: This is an unpaid volunteer role, unremunerated
- Closing date: 9th March 2025
- Time commitment: Approximately 3 hours per week
- Working with: CEO, Operations Manager and tour guides/experience providers
About Us
Unseen Tours is a London-based social enterprise on a mission to provide meaningful work opportunities in the tourism, events and cultural heritage sectors for individuals who have experienced homelessness, alongside other forms of discrimination and marginalisation. The majority of our ticket revenue is paid directly to our tour guides, with the rest reinvested back into the business.
Here\’s what\’s unique about our approach – the tours provide training and meaningful work opportunities for people affected by homelessness. Tour narratives include the guides\’ and experience providers\’ own experiences of homelessness and stories from their communities, making the process individual-led. Through our process, we build the guides\’ self-confidence, public speaking, storytelling and customer management skills. The conversations with customers on our tours reduce barriers by increasing understanding of homelessness that challenges negative stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue and storytelling.
About The Role
We’re seeking a dynamic Social Media Volunteer to help expand our online presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, and explore other viable platforms. You’ll bring your creative flair to develop compelling posts, foster community engagement, and showcase the powerful stories of our guides. You’ll also have the chance to join our tours to capture and create unique content that tells our story.
Your Key Responsibilities
Content Creation:
- Craft engaging LinkedIn posts and Facebook / Instagram posts weekly, with a strong focus on visual appeal.
- Design content highlighting our blogs, customer feedback, tour launches, and more.
- Create themed posts for special events (e.g., International Women’s Day).
Engagement And Interaction
- Help the team respond to comments and messages across platforms to foster meaningful connections.
- Develop an interactive content series to challenge stereotypes around homelessness.
On-Tour Content
- Attend walking tours to capture and produce content for social media.

- A passion for social justice and a desire to address homelessness.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools to enhance visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
- A creative mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
