Temporary Functional Skills Trainer – Western Region\\n\\nLocation: Home-based with regular travel across the Western region.\\n\\nSalary: £34,500 per annum\\n\\nContract: Fixed-term, rolling monthly basis\\n\\nHours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday)\\n\\nRole Overview\\n\\nA fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Functional Skills Trainer to deliver high-quality Functional Skills (FS) education to apprentices within a designated region, with occasional national delivery. This role involves a combination of face-to-face and remote teaching, supporting learners with English, Maths, and some ICT, ensuring they achieve their qualifications in a timely manner.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\nPlan and deliver engaging Functional Skills training to apprentices.\\n\\nManage a caseload of apprentices, monitoring progress and providing updates to key stakeholders.\\n\\nConduct face-to-face and online learning sessions using a range of interactive teaching methods.\\n\\nProvide remote support for apprentices undertaking independent Functional Skills study.\\n\\nMaintain accurate administrative records and track learner progress using internal systems.\\n\\nCollaborate with regional delivery staff to ensure classes are well attended and effectively scheduled.\\n\\nConduct moderation activities for Functional Skills English (Speaking, Listening & Communication) as per awarding body requirements.\\n\\nAssist in developing Functional Skills resources and blended learning solutions.\\n\\nUndertake internal assessment sampling and report findings to the Quality and Curriculum Team.\\n\\nSupport the scheduling and invigilation of Functional Skills exams.\\n\\nContinuously develop teaching skills through CPD activities and best practice sharing.\\n\\nKey Requirements\\n\\nEssential:\\n\\nGCSE (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent Level 3 qualification in Maths and English.\\n\\nLevel 5 Diploma in Teaching with a specialism in English (Literacy) or Mathematics (Numeracy) (DTLLS) or equivalent.\\n\\nExperience in delivering Functional Skills in a post-16 education setting.\\n\\nProficiency in BKSB, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and e-portfolio software.\\n\\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team while managing time effectively.\\n\\nStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently.\\n\\nExcellent IT and communication skills, including experience using online learning platforms.\\n\\nFull UK driving licence and access to a car for regional travel.\\n\\nDesirable:\\n\\nAssessor and Internal Verification qualifications (e.g., D32/D33, D34, A1, TAQA, V1/IQA).\\n\\nQTS/QTLS status or subject specialism in literacy and/or numeracy.\\n\\nAn enhanced DBS check will be required for this position.\\n\\nHow to Apply\\n\\nIf you are an experienced Functional Skills Trainer looking for a rewarding temporary role with flexibility and regional travel, we would love to hear from you.
