Role: Platform Support Engineer Location: Swindon (Hybrid 3 Days In-Office Per Week) Salary: £30,000 – £37,500 We are looking for a dedicated Platform Support Engineer to ensure the operational health, performance, and security of a hybrid server environment. In this role, you will manage both Windows and Linux platforms , applying patches, enforcing configuration standards, and supporting core infrastructure services such as Active Directory and SQL environments . Youll also contribute to automation efforts using Ansible and Terraform , helping to streamline server maintenance and enhance consistency across the environment. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional focused on infrastructure stability, automation, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Maintain and monitor hybrid Windows/Linux environments for performance, security, and compliance Apply patching and configuration standards using tools such as SCCM , WSUS , and Red Hat Satellite Support and troubleshoot Active Directory , SQL Server , and critical platform services Develop and manage automation scripts and workflows using Ansible , Terraform , or PowerShell Collaborate with engineering teams to support infrastructure upgrades and issue resolution Contribute to root cause analysis and implement preventative measures Document support procedures and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base Participate in on-call rotations and incident response efforts as needed Critical Skills & Experience Windows Server administration and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent Linux server support Configuration and patching using SCCM , WSUS , and Red Hat Satellite Strong knowledge of Active Directory architecture and troubleshooting Automation with Ansible , Terraform , and/or scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python) Understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls) Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds Exposure to virtualisation platforms (VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V) Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is a plus Certifications such as MCSE , RHCSA/RHCE , or ITIL desirable TPBN1_UKTJ
