Role Purpose:
The Finance Solution Architect is responsible for ensuring that robust, scalable, and innovative solutions are designed and implemented that meet the strategic and operational needs of the Finance function as agreed with the Lead Finance Solution Architect. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that financial systems are integrated, efficient, and compliant with regulatory requirements. The Finance Solution Architect will work closely with the Lead Finance Solution Architect to ensure high-quality financial system and process solutions are delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design and Architecture: Ensure design and development of financial system architectures meet business requirements and align with the organisation’s technology strategy. Ensure that financial solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with industry standards and regulations. Develop and maintain architectural documentation, including system diagrams, data models, and integration plans.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, IT and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into solutions aligned with the strategic architecture. Collaborate with project managers, developers, and other architects to ensure successful implementation of financial solutions. Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements and present architectural designs.
- System Integration: Support design and integration of solutions between financial systems and other enterprise applications. Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between different systems. Address integration challenges and provide solutions to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
- Technology Evaluation and Selection: Evaluate emerging technologies and tools that could enhance financial systems and processes. Recommend technology solutions that align with the organisation’s goals and budget. Conduct proof-of-concept activities to validate new technologies and approaches.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure that financial solutions comply with regulatory requirements and other relevant standards. Ensure security best practices are implemented to protect financial data and systems. Identify, document and propose mitigation approaches to any risks.
- Performance Optimisation: Monitor and identify optimisation opportunities in relation to the performance of financial systems to ensure high availability and efficiency. Identify and propose resolutions to performance bottlenecks and other technical issues.
- Documentation and Training: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for financial systems and solutions. Ensure that knowledge is effectively transferred and retained within the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified accountant or actuary with extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in Finance Services ideally with Life Insurance experience.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting and/or actuarial principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing financial systems or processes and integrations.
- Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant technologies and platforms, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, actuarial software, data analytics tools, and cloud computing.
