For this newly created role within the business, they are looking for a talented individual to provide leadership, management and take overall responsibility for the supply chain area of the business. Your primary role would be to provide the production team with a full and complete inventory of parts, at specified quality, at a competitive price, without disruption to the company’s production schedule and in line with company business plans and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently plan and effectively manage supply chain resources to achieve on-time and on-budget delivery of all ongoing projects.
- Drive improvements in productivity, cost reduction and error reduction by embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure that all purchasing and stores processes are running in a "planned and controlled" manner, such that abnormalities, "firefighting", and errors are minimised.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential disruptions to the company’s supply chain.
- Alongside the Finance Director, lead the transition and implementation of a new ERP system into the business, with minimum disruption to day-to-day operational business and in line with company business plans and budgets.
- Ensure that programmes are in place to monitor supplier performance and when required to investigate possible new suppliers.
- Maintain stock at appropriate levels, in line with the company business plans and budgets.
- Create annual departmental budgets and operating plans in line with the company strategy and ensure these are achieved.
- Attend management meetings and collaborate with other departments, such that smooth operation of the business is achieved.
- Attend trade shows and make site visits to suppliers, to ensure a high-level expertise in the manufacturing industry is maintained.
- Maintain awareness of modern manufacturing and purchasing techniques, such that best practice in these areas is attained.
- Complete annual appraisals of department staff, set and manage objectives and support with training / CPD.
The Person
- Relevant experience in supply chain, or a similar role.
- Previous experience managing or leading a team of people.
- Previous experience working in an engineering business.
- Previous experience working in, or an understanding of, a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience implementing an ERP system into a business.
- An understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
- An understanding of logistics and freight terms, including import / export.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
