A highly respected asset management firm with an outstanding reputation in the industry is seeking an experienced asset management lawyer to join its Legal Team as Senior Counsel. This role will involve providing legal advice to various members of the firm, including the principal investment management entity and its alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) based in London, along with its subsidiaries.
The Legal Team covers a broad range of practice areas, including funds, managed accounts, regulatory, derivatives, IT, data protection, and corporate/commercial law. This is a dynamic, varied role ideal for a lawyer who enjoys working across different practice areas with a commercial focus.
Key responsibilities will include:

Negotiating and drafting investment management agreements and related documents

Advising colleagues on relevant regulatory requirements to ensure that policies and procedures are in compliance

Contributing to corporate and strategic projects, such as the establishment, maintenance, and closure of group entities, new office openings, and overseas registrations

Advising on the setup, maintenance, and closure of investment funds, including UCITS, open-ended and closed-ended AIFs, and drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documentation,

Assisting in the development of international business distribution, including drafting and negotiating investment management and distribution agreements outside the UK, and advising on overseas regulatory requirements related to marketing and management activities
The ideal candidate will be a common law qualified lawyer with demonstrable post-qualification experience gained in a comparable investment management firm or major law firm. The Legal Department is highly regarded within the firm and has strong business relationships. This front-facing role offers an excellent work/life balance, with the potential for management responsibilities for the right individual. Generous remuneration is available.
