Import Clerk -Hybrid- Freight Forwarder (Sea Freight and Air Freight)

Progressive Freight Forwarder looking to add an Import Clerk to their team, busy, exciting working environment promoting development and progression!

Package

  • Basic Salary 32k – 40k (dependent on experience)
  • Bonus paid 2x annually
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Hybrid working (2 days from home)
  • Monday to Friday 0900-1730hrs
  • Paid overtime
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Job Description

  • The position would be a complete start to finish role, to include but not limited to:
  • Arranging import shipments from worldwide origins.
  • Arranging collections with selected transport companies.
  • Liaising with clients and other branches,sales departments, hauliers, etc.
  • Providing excellent customer service to import customers.
  • Handling order traces, checking BOLs, AWBs, commercial invoices, processing pre-alerts from overseas offices.
  • Good negotiating skills.
  • An in-depth customs knowledge and the ability to complete import customs entries
  • Experience at communicating with shipping lines, airlines and transport companies.

Candidate Specification

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar function in the freight forwarding industry.
  • Team player together with ability to work on own initiative.
  • Tactfully handle customer queries / excellent telephone manner.
  • Stay calm and focused under pressure.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime.
  • Understanding of ocean imports would be an advantage.
