Team Leader – Vegetation Management Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and motivated Vegetation Management Operative to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in vegetation management and grounds maintenance, as well as leadership qualities to effectively lead a team on various projects. This role requires a proactive approach to executing, and tree vegetation management operations while ensuring high safety and quality standards across a number of sectors including but not limited to; Retail & Hospitality Property Management Inland Waterways Highways & Infrastructure Public Sector Emergency Services and Defence Key Responsibilities Lead a team of vegetation management and grounds staff, ensuring efficient and safe work practices. Undertake vegetation and grounds maintenance tasks, including de-veg works, planting, pruning, felling, and removal of small trees and shrubs. Ensure the correct and safe use of tools, machinery, and climbing equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and MEWPs. Adhere to risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard. Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and support to junior team members. Liaise with clients, site managers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and project expectations. Maintain and inspect equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance needs. Experience & Skills Required Proven experience in vegetation management and grounds maintenance.. Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role is desirable. Strong knowledge of vegetation management practices, including removal, felling techniques. Knowledge of invasive species preferable. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools, including chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and stump grinders. Ability to read site plans and execute programmes of work in line with client specifications. A good understanding of health and safety regulations, including LOLER and PUWER. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Must be able to pass enhanced DBS. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Qualifications & Requirements Relevant NPTC/LANTRA certifications (e.g., CS30, CS31, PA1, PA6 etc) Full UK driving licence (preferably with towing entitlement). First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Relevant arboriculture or forestry qualifications (desirable but not essential).
