Team Introduction:
The Europe Tax team is building to work with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy. We ensure compliance with direct (corporate income tax) and indirect tax and solve tax related issues.
Position Summary:
TikTok is seeking an enthusiastic Tax Manager to join its Tax team in London and support its rapid business growth across Europe. The ideal candidate will have experience in indirect tax within the UK and the EU and possess strong technical skills. They will collaborate seamlessly with colleagues from multiple departments (e.g., Legal, Finance) to support our business teams in developing comprehensive and practical tax solutions.
Experience in the taxation of the digital economy and e-commerce is highly desirable. Candidates must have a proven track record of providing valuable insights into various taxes (e.g., CIT, VAT, WHT, DST) and supporting business projects across multiple jurisdictions in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business models and objectives, crafting VAT solutions that align with operational goals.
- Define indirect tax requirements for existing and new programs/products, make relevant key decisions and ensure practical implementation of these requirements in internal systems.
- Develop and implement clear tax requirements while coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive indirect tax strategies.
- Offer expertise on indirect tax matters, while maintaining a foundational knowledge of direct tax and transfer pricing impacts.
- Research and keep abreast of European indirect tax developments, evaluate and decide on necessary business and process changes, develop and execute plans accordingly to ensure compliance with new tax rules and regulations.
- Manage and oversee indirect tax projects and develop strategic and operational implementation work plans to ensure new service or country launches are tax compliant and timely.
- Support engagements with external advisors, tax authorities, and government bodies.
- Respond to ad hoc questions from cross functional team members on a wide range of issues.
- Assist with tax technology implementations and automations with our ERP and IT systems, to drive efficiency and improve end-to-end tax processes and controls.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years relevant industry or Big 4 experience with professional tax qualification, chartered accountancy, or legal background.
- Expertise in international VAT across both B2C and B2B contexts.
- Strong communication abilities, with experience interfacing across all management levels.
- Self-starter individual with proven ability to deliver results in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in technology, e-commerce and/or electronically supplied services is highly desirable.
