A fast growth start-up has an opportunity for a Lab Coordinator to join its team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory by managing incoming deliveries, stock control, contractor coordination, and general operational support.
You will work closely with the scientific team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining essential systems, and troubleshooting operational issues. This is a dynamic role that requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a strong ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Stock & Inventory Management: Oversee incoming deliveries, verifying goods against orders and checking delivery notes. Maintain accurate stock records, monitor inventory levels, and report discrepancies. Conduct regular stock counts and assist with full stocktakes.
- Laboratory Operations Support: Ensure the laboratory remains organized, tidy, and compliant with safety standards. Assist in managing laboratory systems, including temperature monitoring, liquid nitrogen, and gas supply. Handle waste management processes, including recycling, chemical disposal, and WEEE compliance. Respond to inquiries from team members regarding product availability and deliveries.
- Facilities & Contractor Coordination: Schedule and coordinate contractor visits. Report any maintenance issues, faults, or hazards within the laboratory. Support troubleshooting of minor technical or operational issues.
- Process & System Management: Learn and utilize laboratory computer systems (full training provided). Ensure operational efficiency through process improvements and compliance with laboratory procedures. Collaborate closely with the scientific team to support research activities.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented and methodical approach to work.
- Previous experience in goods-in, inventory management, or operational environments.
- Adaptability and a proactive mindset to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with Amici or similar inventory systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
