We have contract vacancy for an experienced herdsperson to join a family farming operation near Glastonbury in Somerset.
This 320-cow herd of Holsteins are AYR calving and yielding 10,000 % fat and 3.5% protein for an Arla Tesco contract. 2 x milking via a 32 x 32 De-Laval herringbone parlour, with a backing gate, auto-feed, auto-ID, and segregation gate.
Conventional grazing is practiced during the summer; housed cows have modern cubicles with mattresses and sawdust bedding while fed a home grown TMR comprising maize and grass silage with grains and minerals.
The appointed person will need to be focused on clean milk production, be able to manage the herd day-to-day, including excellent paperwork, foot trim as required, and AI trained would be advantageous.
