Who we are

Founded in oil and gas exploration and production, GMVi is all about wells. We make software to empower drilling, production and well integrity engineers to safeguard the production of energy the world needs – protecting human life, the natural environment and critical assets.

Our specialist, highly skilled team is opening eyes to the reality of well integrity risk across the lifecycle, for our customers and the wider industry.

In house, we do the high value things that only we can do:

  • develop product concepts through to detailed design
  • sales and product delivery 
  • support customers with implementation and consultancy projects using the software
  • having a sharp focus on growing the scale and value of the business

Everything else is outsourced.

The role

  • Diligence, attention to detail, innovation, self-motivation
  • Competence and confidence using complex, technical software
  • Quickly learn how Empirica works and how our customers use it to have safe and productive wells
  • Provide expert advice to customers with model building, instance set-up and peer review
  • Hands-on involvement in consultancy projects for model building, analysis and reporting
  • Work closely with Product Manager to:

– recognise, capture, define, and develop ideas to improve software and user experience

– analyse customers’ requirements of our products

– update user guidance documents

– contribute ideas and input to product development roadmap

  • Support customer technical queries by phone, video calls and email, working with our team to solve more complex issues
  • Regular customer contact to maintain relationships and identify new opportunities. Identify areas to improve customer satisfaction and develop repeat business. Communicate these and possible solutions within our team
  • Develop understanding of the software space that Empirica occupies, and its competitors
  • Based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, with some travel in UK and internationally

Who you are

  • Bachelor or higher degree in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum two years’ work experience in an engineering role
  • Strong in IT; competence and confidence with complex technical software. Experience with drawing packages such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks would be beneficial
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry would be beneficial 
  • Team oriented with strong collaboration skills
  • Diligent and innovative with strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and curious, with a desire to learn new things
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Committed to create results that make a difference for our customers
  • Enthusiasm to support and develop Empirica and grow the business
  • Fluent in English – oral and written
  • You need proof of right to work in the UK – a passport or birth certificate, and National Insurance are essential.
