This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Renewable Energy sectors. The successful applicant must have current Security Clearance and nuclear industry experience. This role is remote working and is deemed to be outside IR35.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design new HVAC systems and upgrading existing ones, ensuring efficiency and safety.
  • Guide the delivery of high-quality written work, including functional specifications, basis of design, equipment specifications, and validation and verification plans.
  • Manage and review detailed design drawings, layouts, and schematics, including heating, ventilation, LTHW, chilled water, specialist LEV, and BMS installations.
  • Create detailed reports and documentation to ensure compliance with CDM requirements.
  • Develop essential multi-discipline design documents such as Project Requirement Documents, Basis of Design, and Quality Plans.
  • Produce essential HVAC deliverables, from technical reports to engineering drawings and building services calculations.
  • Verify the design and deliverables of other senior mechanical designers to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Oversee and approve documentation such as assessment/condition reports, survey reports, basis of designs, and procurement specifications.
  • Lead the preparation of project estimates, including equipment and man-hour costs.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring compliance with construction (design and management) regulations across multiple projects.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, such as HAZID, Design Reviews, Model Reviews.
  • Liaising with Clients and managing their needs and expectations.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered status preferred but not essential.
  • Must have proven experience in Energy sector – nuclear industry experience a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of working with industry software such as AutoCAD, Plant3D, CAESAR Stress Analysis.
