Are you a passionate and driven social worker looking to develop your experience in practice with disabled children and their families?

As a social worker in Our Disabled Children Service, you will be working with colleagues across the service and colleagues in our Preparing for Adulthood Service. You will also work closely with our in-house providers of short breaks, health and education professionals and a range of private and voluntary organisations to create packages of support for children and young people.

Our Outstanding Practice Framework will drive your work with families and will place them at the centre of your work. As a social worker in Wandsworth, you will champion anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices, ensuring services are equitable and transformative for children and families of diverse backgrounds.

Can you bring your innovative and creative approach to deliver services to disabled children and families while working closely with your team and manager including multi-agency partners to provide a service that meets each child’s need?

About the role

You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality and responsive social work service, assessing the needs of disabled children. You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled children, their families and carers.

You will have experience in Children’s Services, including child protection and have a clear understanding of all relevant legislation and guidance.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • You will hold social work qualification with Social Work England membership and have completed your ASYE Year.
  • Experience of working across voluntary and statutory agencies with applied knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
  • You will be a passionate and driven social worker who is looking to develop further your experience in practice with disabled children and their families.
  • You will be innovative and creative in your approach to delivering services to disabled children and families and be able to work closely with your team and manager including multi-agency partners to provide a service that meets each child’s needs.
