Job Title: Packaging Engineer
Duration: 12 Months
The role is positioned in the Global Brands Supply, Project Engineering team providing Capital Project support to Manufacturing sites including distillation, brewing, spirits and beer packaging and maturation warehousing. The overall purpose of this team is to deliver capital expenditure projects. For this role this includes:
- Development of requirement specifications in collaboration with other teams such as Operations.
- Use specialist knowledge to deliver capex projects to correct technical specification.
- Development of cost estimates and project schedules.
- Managing efficient spend for capex projects.
- Co-ordinating and managing external resources.
- Manage the project lifecycle including capital approval, maintaining accurate financial data including spend and forecast and project closure.
- Manage construction activities and overseeing commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
The role holder will have a mechanical, electrical or process engineering background.
Context/Scope:
This role executes Capex projects within the client Global Engineering category managing individual projects from concept to handover in Leven.
a) Safety
Safe Execution of projects will be the number one priority for the role-holder.
The role will have management responsibility for individual projects, valued at up to £30m and a portfolio of projects up to ~£40m.
The role has full responsibility for delivery of Capex projects. A flexible leadership style is required, which will allow influencing at all levels both internally and externally through coaching, facilitation and cross-functional team working. The ability to hold suppliers and other stakeholders to account is essential.
In particular, it is critical that the role delivers projects with zero harm. Ability and willingness to set and maintain clear direction on safety is essential.
Purpose of Role
To develop, initiate and implement Capex projects, in line with the agreed Annual Operating Plan. Liaise and interact with other business functions to ensure that the overall supply operation works in an optimum, cohesive manner both during and after project implementation. Deliver optimum shareholder value through excellent delivery of Capex investments.

Qualifications and Experience Required
University degree in Engineering with or progressing towards professional status. Extensive relevant experience may be considered as an alternative.

Facilitation and coaching skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
3 – 5 years experience with packaging equipment preferably Food and Beverage or FMCG.
