Warner Scott are partnered with a leading UK Accounting firm who are looking to hire a Director for their Valuations practice. The firm has seen excellent growth in the past few years and is currently expanding across the business, and significantly within Valuations. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional looking to join a firm that are consistently growing, and can offer a clear, strong route to Partner in the long term.
Key Responsibilities
- Client-facing & Technical Work
- Lead and deliver valuation assignments across a range of situations including Transactions (e.g. business sales, reorganisations, buyouts), Financial reporting (e.g. purchase price allocations, impairment reviews), Tax (e.g. gift or share valuations, IP and intangible asset valuations), Shareholder disputes and expert witness support, Employee incentive schemes and share-based payment valuations.
- Build and review detailed valuation models tailored to the specific commercial context.
- Take ownership of written deliverables, including clear, well-supported valuation reports.
- Stay abreast of developments in valuation methodology and relevant regulatory standards.
- Provide clients with clear, jargon-free explanations of complex valuation concepts.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a small team of Associates and Managers, ensuring high-quality output and professional development.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career progression.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, aligned with the firm’s values.
- Business Development & Practice Growth
- Maintain and develop relationships with both new and existing clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across the wider firm’s service lines.
- Support in pitching and winning new business, including proposal writing and presentations.
- Contribute to shaping the team’s growth strategy and market positioning.
- Represent the firm externally at networking events and through thought leadership.
- Operational & Commercial Management
- Monitor and manage financial performance across your portfolio, including billing, recovery and lock-up.
- Oversee project scoping, resourcing and budgeting to ensure efficient delivery.
- Ensure all client work is compliant with internal procedures and external regulations.
- Help maintain a robust approach to risk management and professional standards.
Desirables:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- A relevant qualification (ACA, CFA, ACCA) although not essential.
- Extensive experience of valuation methodologies and modelling.
- Up-to-date working knowledge of key valuation methodologies and best practice in modelling.
- Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills for analysis and data presentation.
- Demonstrable experience in business development, with a proven track record of winning new clients and developing commercial relationships.
- An ability to generate contacts within the industry and a willingness to develop such contacts.
