The role:
Global X ETFs Europe, a London-based Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) issuer, seeks a highly motivated Investment Strategist to join its Investment Strategy team. Working closely with both the firm\’s investment strategists and other stakeholders, the Investment Strategist will have broad exposure to the firm\’s ETFs, focusing firstly mainly on commodities ETFs, including silver, copper, uranium, and other commodity-related markets, and potentially on some of the thematic and income ETFs and markets. This position is expected to be an impactful contributor to the Investment Strategy team and the firm\’s broader distribution efforts, including developing, maintaining, and promoting client-facing research content, conducting in-depth research projects, and communicating insights with clients, prospects, and media.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain differentiated and engaging content offerings for our library of insights in a variety of mediums, including written text, data visualisation, presentation slides, videos, and more
- Monitor, analyse, and synthesize recent news, financial and academic research, and economic data
- Develop a deep understanding of and an ability to explain in educational content the ETF structure, mechanics, liquidity, and the broader competitive landscape
- Assist investors with how to use various assets both tactically and strategically in a diversified portfolio
- Collaborate with the Product team to review the exposure, index methodologies and competitive positioning of our ETFs, as well as identify and help develop potential new product opportunities
- Conduct regular and ad-hoc research for internal and external stakeholders on various topics relevant to our ETFs and/or the ETF industry
- Respond to client questions about ETF methodology, performance attribution, fundamentals, and macro-drivers
- Communicate the firm\’s value proposition, details of the firm\’s products and services, and market insights to financial services professionals and investors with varying levels of investing acumen and subject matter expertise via conference calls, webinars, in-person meetings, presentations to large groups, and more
- Exemplify Global X\’s culture of problem-solving, creative thinking, collaboration, and integrity
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience working in asset management (research, portfolio management, or sales-related functions), sell-side research, sales and trading, investment banking, venture capital, or management consulting
- Commodities experience preferred but not mandatory
- Advanced communication skills, including demonstrated abilities in business writing, data analysis and visualisation, and verbal presentations
- Direct experience in financial markets through a trading, research, or sales capacity
- Adept at synthesizing and concisely communicating nuanced topics to senior leadership, investment professionals, and investors across all levels of investing/conceptual acumen
- Strong project management and organisational skills, balancing multiple projects in a dynamic environment while maintaining personal initiative
- Attention to detail
- Motivated self-starter and consummate teammate
- Intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Desire to expand the knowledge base and technical abilities
- Experience with specialised financial software (Bloomberg, Morningstar etc.), including Excel APIs
