Multi Skilled Operative

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our friendly team based at Sandy Heath Quarry, Sandy Heath, Bedfordshire, SG19 2NW. Main Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Section Manager, the role of Multi Skilled Operative is part of a key team of Operatives producing dry aggregates material for the construction industry.
• Delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations.
• Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery and mobile plant (including loading shovels).
• Weighbridge duties.
• Day to day maintenance of the plant, maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping.
• Training and operation on static plant operations to help drive plant optimisation.
• Working as part of a small team to ensure customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries.
• Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised.
• Assisting the Section Manager with meeting daily/weekly production targets.
• Maintaining and driving a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety.
• Compliance and awareness of Health and Safety measures around the site.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience preferably working within a similar aggregates environment or an Industrial or Factory environment as an Operative or Labourer.
• Experience working within a Health and Safety based environment.
• Good timekeeping and time management.
• Experience of operating mobile plant including Loading Shovel (preferred).
• Working knowledge of Risk Assessments (ideally within role of Operative).
• Flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operational team, adapting to different tasks within the overall team.
• Self-motivated approach and ability to successfully engage with and motivate other colleagues.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience of the industry, mobile plant and quarrying (advantageous but not essential as training can be given to the successful candidate).
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• IT literate.
• Shovel Licence (preferred not essential).
