Title: Head of Data
Location: West Yorkshire – Hybrid, ideally 3 days on site

Berwick Partners are working with an established and recognised Yorkshire based utility provider to recruit a permanent Head of Data.
The purpose of this role is to proactively drive data quality to enable better decision-making and improve operational performance. This is a senior leadership role, reporting directly to the CIO and will be a key member of the IT & Technology Executive team.
You will:
- Own the data strategy and be responsible for defining the data vision.
- Lead and reshape an established team of 30+ data professionals.
- Support the business by providing data and insights to both track current performance and shape future direction.

The Role:
- Create, own, and deliver the data strategy and data governance and assurance approach.
- Drive design and implementation of technical data architectures, artefacts, and infrastructure, as well as creating a Data Product Management process and catalogue.
- Drive delivery of advanced analytics support data driven decision making.
- Create and manage an experienced and effective team of data professionals including Data Architects, Data Scientists, Data Product Managers, Data Analyst and Data Engineers.
The Candidate:
- Previous experience in data strategy design and delivery, ideally in a regulated, asset-rich environment – e.g. utilities, gas, electric, water, oil & gas, and nuclear. Or broader infrastructure sector experience – rail, road, highways.
- Strong understanding of Data Management Frameworks, including Data Architecture, Governance, Engineering and Analytics.
- Ability to articulate data models, communicating effectively with the technical team and broader commercial stakeholders.
- High motivation, self-reliance and a drive for continuous development.
