A leading diagnostics provider is seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join their multidisciplinary laboratory team. This role offers the opportunity to perform specialist analytical testing, contribute to quality assurance, and support laboratory operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine and specialist analytical testing on biological samples.
- Perform data analysis and authorize results within professional scope.
- Review and release results via the LIMS system.
- Ensure timely processing of patient samples and maintain turnaround times.
- Identify abnormal or unexpected results, reporting and following up with clinicians.
- Troubleshoot issues with specimens and analytical equipment.
- Manage and report on EQA schemes.
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot specialist lab equipment.
- Oversee stock control and ordering processes.
- Handle telephone inquiries regarding test results and general lab matters.
- Accurately record data, compile reports, and communicate findings.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior lab staff.
- Participate in evaluating new equipment and testing methods.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the Quality Management System (ISO 15189).
- Engage in routine audits and staff development initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols.
Requirements:
- HCPC registration with at least 5 years post-registration experience in a multidisciplinary lab.
- Degree accredited by IBMS in Biomedical Science, Medical, or Health Sciences.
- MSc and/or completion of IBMS Specialist Portfolio preferred.
- Strong technical skills in pathology disciplines and laboratory information systems.
- Experience using various analytical techniques.
- High attention to detail and adherence to lab protocols.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with laboratory IT systems.
- Methodical approach with a keen eye for detail.
