Job Title: Payroll Officer

Location: Rochdale (Hybrid working available after 6 months probation)

Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About Our Client:

We are working with a well-established accounting firm that provides expert services to a diverse range of clients. They are currently seeking a skilledPayroll Assistantto join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accountancy practice experience, particularly in payroll, who is looking for a new challenge in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Process weekly and monthly payroll for a range of clients usingBrightPaysoftware.

Ensure accurate payroll processing, including compliance withHMRC regulationsandCIS(Construction Industry Scheme).

ManageCISsubmissions for subcontractors and ensure correct deductions.

Prepare and submitRTIreports to HMRC.

Handle statutory deductions such as sick pay, maternity pay, and pensions.

Maintain and update employee payroll records with a focus on confidentiality.

Assist with year-end payroll procedures and issuing P60s.

Address payroll-related queries from clients and employees promptly.

Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.

Key Requirements:

Minimum of2 years experience in an accountancy practice.

Proficient in usingBrightPaypayroll software.

Strong working knowledge ofCIS(Construction Industry Scheme).

Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC compliance.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with clients and employees effectively.

Ability to work independently and handle payroll deadlines with ease.

Desirable:

Experience in a payroll bureau or accounting firm.

Knowledge of pensions auto-enrolment schemes.

AnAATqualification or payroll-related certification is a plus but not essential.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum.

Full-time position with potential forhybrid working(1 day per week) after a 6-month probation period.
