Role: Procurement Manager – Temporary – Lisburn
Job Overview
VANRATH are assisting our client, a large scale manufacturer, in their search for a Procurement Manager to join the team on an initial temporary contract. This position will lead purchasing operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Those with a proven background in supply chain management are encouraged to apply.

  • Salary: £45,000-£50,000
  • Temporary
  • Monday to Friday, with early Friday finish!

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures to optimise efficiency and maximise purchasing power.
  • Negotiate favourable contracts with suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and periodic reviews.
  • Maintain stock control and audit systems to meet production, delivery targets, and business objectives.
  • Oversee goods-inwards and storage operations for efficiency, safety, and optimal space utilisation.
  • Maintain and monitor the central materials budget to control purchasing costs effectively.
  • Analyse customer schedules, forecast material requirements, and provide purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, health, and safety regulations while driving continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop staff to maintain high performance, training, and motivation standards.
  • Support IT system improvements and implement operational enhancements.

Criteria

The ideal candidate must meet one of the following qualification and experience criteria:

  • Option 1: Degree/Diploma Route
    • Degree or Diploma in Business Studies, Economics, or Computing.
    • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a purchasing role.
  • Option 2: Experience Route
    • At least 15 years’ experience as a Buyer in a Manufacturing Company.
    • Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including:
      • Mathematics & IT – Grade B or higher.
  • Option 3: Professional Qualification Route
    • Chartered Membership of the Institute of Procurement and Supply.
    • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in purchasing.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of purchasing processes, supplier negotiations, and cost control within a manufacturing environment.
