Essential Skills Maths Tutor (Skills for Life and Work) Job Description Employer: USEL Location: 182-188 Cambrai Street, Belfast, BT13 3JH Responsible To: SFLW Operations Manager Hours: 35 hours per week (part-time hours may be considered) Contract: Permanent Salary: £25,218 – £28,310 per annum (new appointees typically start at the first pay scale point) Objective: To ensure all learners reach their potential, achieve their learning targets and qualifications, and benefit from well-planned, engaging lessons that maximize retention and success. Job Responsibilities: Design schemes of work and lesson plans. Facilitate and manage the delivery of Essential Skills Maths to SFLW learners. Complete and maintain individual Personal Learning Plans. Review learners progress monthly. Maintain effective administrative and reporting systems, ensuring all quality processes are followed. Manage time efficiently to meet monitoring and evaluation requirements. Support learners throughout the programme and identify barriers to learning. Ensure the Health & Safety of all participants. Manage system updates and resources needed for programme delivery. Ensure learners achieve outcomes as recorded in their Personal Training Plans. Adhere to all USEL policies and procedures. Carry out any other tasks necessary for the effective delivery of the programme. Person Specification:Essential Criteria: GCSE (or equivalent qualification) in Maths (Grade A*C) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Maths. A third-level qualification where Maths comprises at least 50% of the subject studied. Examples include: Additional Maths Applied Mathematics Computer Science and Maths Mathematics Mathematical Sciences Maths and Computer Studies Pure Mathematics Chemistry and Applied Maths Physics and Economics Engineering (Existing Essential Skills Tutors recognized as qualified by the Department prior to 1st August 2012 and currently in employment will retain this recognition.) Hold, be working towards, or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Certificate in Teaching, Ulster University). Ability to engage with and motivate learners to reach their full potential. Desirable Criteria: Experience delivering Essential Skills. Knowledge of Internal Verification processes for Essential Skills. At least six months' experience working in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) environment.
