We have exciting opportunities for Poultry Inspection Assistants to join our dynamic team in Dungannon at Pilgrim's Europe. Working Hours: Team A- 6am- 6pm Team B- 6am-6pm Team C- 6pm – 2:15am The job of the Poultry Inspection Assistant involves identifying and ensuring that unfit meat is removed from the slaughter line. This position involves working in an area of slaughter where blood will be present. The Poultry Inspection Assistant is under direct supervision from the Official Veterinarian to carry out post-mortem duties. Key Responsibilities: Identifying and removing unfit birds/meat from the slaughter line. To ensure that all birds/meat carrying disease does not reach the consumer. Monitoring the hygiene of the slaughter operation. To ensure that: Dressing is hygienic to avoid unnecessary contamination of birds/meat, as excessive contamination assists in transferring food poison germs to consumers. Recording disease levels in flocks. This information can assist in improving boiler management. Monitoring welfare by identifying injured birds during inspection, assisting in ensuring birds are reared, caught and transported in a welfare friendly way. To be responsible for ensuring food safety, integrity, legality and quality at all times.
