Housekeeping Supervisor

Reporting to (position): Housekeeping Manager

Main Scope and purpose:

  • To supervise the room cleaning, periodic cleaning and maintain agreed standards in areas for which the Floor Supervisor is responsible.
  • To ensure all Room Attendants and Porters are always trained and supported to deliver exceptional standards, and to all departments within the Hotel that the Floor Supervisors are responsible for.
  • To ensure that all VIPs and guests experience a seamless and memorable stay whilst at the Hotel

Housekeeping Supervisor – Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all staff associated with Housekeeping carry out their duties in the required manner and to the agreed standards
  • To report general maintenance throughout the Hotel following the agreed hotel procedure using wherever possible systems and processes
  • To ensure that daily departures or priority rooms are returned to reception within the expected time period and to an exceptional standard
  • To complete any/all necessary documentation for the effective day to day running of the Housekeeping department, following the laid down procedures
  • To inspect the work completed by the Porters as required
  • To ensure that the Porters are managed, directed and engaged with as part of the Housekeeping team
  • To deal with any queries and requests from guests as efficiently and politely as possible ensuring that the service delivered minimises these exceptions
  • To ensure that the Job of the day is carried out consistently across all Room Attendants
  • To ensure that all common area cleaning within the responsibility of the Porters is audited and delivered daily
  • To be aware of all in-house sales policies and hotel facilities
  • To ensure good Guest relations at all times, never ignoring a guest request and always remember to ask for assistance if the instruction is unclear
  • To ensure the correct use (training) and issue of cleaning materials all times
  • To have a sound knowledge of the cleaning procedures and methods of work to be undertaken by the room attendants
  • Spend quality time with each direct report daily ensuring that you support Brand standards and best practice in every task
  • To check all rooms on allocated floors thoroughly and strive to improve standards by driving efficiencies
  • To ensure that accurate details are provided to reception and maintenance whenever they are communicated with, too much information is never an issue
  • To ensure that housekeeping cupboards are always maintained at correct stock levelsand kept tidy and clear of all lost property
  • To ensure that Brand standards are always adhered to and all procedures followed strictly as per written policies
  • To maintain discipline and ensure that the appearance of all Housekeeping staff is always acceptable to our client
  • To ensure that the highest standard of security is always maintained particularly with regard to Key handling and lost property procedures
  • Build a team ethic that is proud of their sections taking full ownership of all aspects of the specification and Hotel requirements
  • Use equipment to ensure productivity is always met and respect the machinery and environmentincluding reporting faults immediately there occur with equipment
  • To be fully conversant with all Brand QA requirements within your allocated area and ensure they are always up to date according to the monthly task calendar
  • To be responsible for the inventory of all items within your allocated areas and ensuring that missing items or broken items that are sent for repair, are documented and the correct procedure followed
  • To hold regular meetings with your room attendants, porters and team to ensure consistent communication flow throughout the department
  • To carry out coaching, mentoring, counselling with your team as required.
  • To carry out and or provide feedback for completing PDRs (Personal Development Reviews)

Health and Safety

  • To be aware of, and comply with, safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety Acts as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace and being conversant with all required checks within your area of responsibility and ensure that they are up to date at all times
  • To ensure that all staff wear appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the company
  • To report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to the Hotel procedures
  • To ensure any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported in accordance with the correct procedures
  • To ensure all staff are trained in the statutory Fire, Health and Safety training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning Fire, Health and Safety

Training

  • To assist in the training and development of all of your colleagues
  • To attend and arrange all training courses as and when required
  • To ensure accurate training records are maintained throughout the Department

Communication

  • To attend department meetings and ensure any projects are effectively communicated with the client
  • To liaise with other departments to ensure good communication and to offer any support as and when required
  • To work harmoniously and professionally with the client, co-workers and managers
  • To build a strong work ethic with all of your team and motivate staff ensuring job satisfaction is paramount

Company Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety environment;
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
  • Report an issues or training need to your Line Manager and/or via divisional incident reporting system.
