About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join our client\’s team and lead the development and coordination of technical design packages. This role is critical to ensuring projects meet their scope, quality, schedule, and cost requirements, particularly within the UK nuclear and defence sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage design deliverables, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
  • Develop and implement design and safety strategies in accordance with relevant policies and standards, including BIM.
  • Produce and maintain documentation for electrical infrastructure design substantiation.
  • Provide technical justifications for modifications to electrical systems in high-hazard environments.
  • Check and review calculations and technical documents prepared by team members.
  • Ensure designs comply with requirements for high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree or relevant qualification in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status, registered with the Engineering Council.
  • Strong experience in HV and MV electrical design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in BIM environments.
  • Experience with project planning, management, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical structures, systems, and components in the nuclear or defence sector.
  • Familiarity with safety case development methods such as HAZID/HAZOP studies.
  • Experience in the design support for the construction, operation, maintenance, or repair of nuclear facilities will be highly valued.

Additional Details

  • The role is hybrid, primarily based remotely with weekly/ fortnightly visits to the client offices based in Glasgow City Centre. There will be occasional travel to sites in the South East.
