Our engineering client is recruiting for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to work on a permanent basis in the West Midlands
This role will specialise in Manufacturing readiness, Manufacturing capability and Factory Design and Layout.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the development and delivery manufacturing capability including processes, systems, and FD&L to ensure the efficient and effective production of containment enclosures.
This role requires an in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in the delivery of manufacturing capability and systems
- Lead the ANL Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) programme for a new facility.
- Deliver the manufacturing strategy for the new facility under the direction of the Head of Innovation and Head of Manufacturing to support contract requirements.
- Coordinate, plan resources and manage support for multiple manufacturing capability projects to successful completion.
- Lead the Factory Design and Layout (FD&L) for the new facility. Developing and delivering the layouts for plant, production facility, equipment, processes, and workflow.
- Lead the group on new/existing manufacturing process development and identify improvements to enhance KPI output.
- Lead on feasibility activities in the assessment of new manufacturing processes, equipment, products, and systems including mechanisation and automation.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with standards and regulations, while adhering to all safety requirements.
- Implement lean management processes and systems to support business operations, driving process optimisation to achieve the required quality and reduction in cost.
- Take lead for project teams in providing a bridge to design for manufacturability.
Development of personnel under your direct supervision, including technical and behavioural coaching.
Experience required
- Qualified to a minimum of Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or above.
- Extensive demonstrable experience in leading the delivery of new manufacturing facilities and capability.
- 10+ years industrial experience in working in a manufacturing engineering management role with a strong background in Machining, Welding, Fabrication, Assembly and Inspection.
- Demonstrable experience in TRL/MRL/MCRL or other process/product maturation techniques.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes with ability to evaluate, develop and improve production processes.
