The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is a globally recognised professional membership body that supports and promotes the infrastructure and construction industry. Our NEC Training & Contracts division delivers industry-leading training and consultancy services, ensuring best practice in contract management and procurement. We are seeking a motivated New Business Executive to join our team in Westminster, London.
The Role
The New Business Executive (NBE) is responsible for driving revenue growth by securing new business through proactive client engagement. This role involves responding to inbound leads, managing the full sales process and proactively approaching potential clients within an allocated territory. The NBE plays a vital role in expanding our client base and achieving sales targets while delivering a seamless and professional client experience.
The role operates within the UK market and reports directly to the Head of Sales, NEC and ICE Training.
Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Engagement
- Respond to client enquiries and generated leads.
- Manage the full new business sales process, from needs assessment to proposals and closing deals.
- Meet volume and value targets to contribute to overall business growth.
- Actively seek new business opportunities within the allocated territory.
- Build and nurture relationships to position NEC as a trusted advisor.
- Conduct targeted research to identify and engage potential customers.
Operational Support
- Prepare cost models for all opportunities to ensure profit maximisation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all opportunities in Salesforce CRM.
- Coordinate training administration to meet TTT quality and commercial standards.
Communication & Collaboration
- Brief course tutors to ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Escalate any quality, commercial, or timing issues to the Head of Sales for prompt resolution.
Sales Forecasting & Financial Management
- Ensure training and contract services are delivered within budget.
- Regularly update sales forecasts to support accurate business planning.
- Issue purchase orders to manage supplier charges effectively.
