Data Protection Associate (First Line) – Risk Management, CBS (Permanent) – Belfast At Ernst & Young (EY), the Risk Management (RM) department is responsible for the promotion of and supporting the management of risk within the business. RM's aim is to uphold EY's business standards, maintain and enhance the value of EY, and ensure that EY complies with the rules and regulations in relation to the conduct of its business. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the UK Data Protection team to ensure EY's compliance with data protection and privacy legislation, such as UK GDPR. Performing front line compliance work and providing support to professionals in the business, you will be exposed to various areas of privacy and confidentiality. We are looking for driven, productive team players who are passionate about making an impact and providing exceptional client service to the business. Key Responsibilities As a First Line Associate, you will be a key part of the UK Data Protection team, responsible for ensuring EY UK complies with data protection law and regulation and providing support across the business. Responsibilities include: Handling Data subject rights requests, helping to uphold individuals' rights including: Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs): from communicating with data subjects, data gathering from across the business, to in-depth review of the information and producing outputs to be shared with data subjects. Erasure requests: from communicating with data subjects to liaising with the business on data retention requirements. Investigation of Data incidents and breaches, liaising with the business to ensure containment and mitigation. Triaging and supporting in the Privacy and Confidentiality impact assessments of EY products, applications, tools, technology, soltuions and suppliers. Managing personal workloads to ensure queues of work are dealt with in a timely manner. Supporting the development and operation of data protection processes to improve efficiencies. Assisting team members with project work as appropriate. Other tasks, as directed by the Data Protection Officer. Skills and attributes for success Strong communication skills capable of dealing with wide range of personnel at various levels of seniority. Ability to establish and maintain a high degree of confidentiality and credibility. Strong team player and proven ability to work with others. Ability to make risk-based decisions whilst adhering to Regulations. Is comfortable with change, ambiguity, debate and managing multiple stakeholders. Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively. Enthusiastic, positive, and resilient. Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines in a fast-paced demanding environment. Maintains high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. To qualify for the role, you must have Experience or background (academic or professional) in a relevant business discipline. An interest to understand UK data protection and privacy legislation and risk-based approach to compliance. While full training will be provided, ideally, you'll also have one of the following: Familiarity and experience with the application of data protection law and/or policies; At least one year of work experience in a relevant role (e.g., complaints handling, incidents management, quality control/assurance, risk management, legal, or compliance related role); At least one year of experience working in Financial / Professional services or a regulated environment; or Certified courses or qualifications in data protection / privacy e.g., CIPP/E.
