Accounting Technician Location : Belfast City Centre Job Type : Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid Working Reed Accountancy are delighted to be partnered with a reputable company based in Belfast City Centre in the appointment of an experienced Accounting Technician to join their established team! The successful Accounting Technician will support the Financial Controllers and the wider finance team. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management information, and ensuring compliance with both internal controls and external regulations. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in financial processing and control, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities – Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and departmental reports. Support operational performance reporting and prepare nominal ledger reports for budget holders. Contribute to statutory accounts and audit schedules preparation. – Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to internal controls and assist with new procedures. Support compliance tasks including VAT returns and other regulatory submissions. Liaise with auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits. Assist with quarterly statements – Financial Processing & Control: Aid in purchase ledger, nominal, office, and client ledger activities. Prepare and review reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts. Assist with month-end and year-end journal preparations. Maintain accurate records of credit card spend and complete necessary reconciliations. – Team Support & Communication: Serve as a point of contact for finance-related queries. Provide cover and support for other finance team members as needed. What you\’ll need to succeed! Essential: Level 2 or Level 3 AAT (part-qualified considered – desirable to be part-qualified ACA/ACCA) Minimum 2 years in a similar role within a finance team. Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, Teams, and computerised accounting software. Experience in bookkeeping and working within a regulated or professional services environment is desirable. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Proactive and able to use initiative in diverse tasks.
